About Us
Owner and Founder
Hi, I’m Mia, the owner and founder of Wild Waggers.
Wild Waggers began in 2019 as a personal hobby inspired by my "washed" Assistance Dog, Milah (photo of Milah). Milah was trained as my Psychiatric and Medical Alert Dog, and she played an incredibly important role in my life. Don’t worry — she is very much alive and happily living out the rest of her life on a beautiful 40-acre horse ranch.
What started as a small creative outlet quickly grew into something much bigger. Originally, I began making my own gear so Milah could comfortably and clearly display when she was working. At the time I was young, with very little money but plenty of creativity and some sewing skills. Before long, friends and clients began asking for their own custom gear, and Wild Waggers slowly grew into the small business it is today.
Milah has always been — and will always remain — my greatest inspiration. Because of her, I am constantly looking for ways to improve, innovate, and design comfortable, practical accessories for both dogs and their handlers.
Although I no longer require an Assistance Dog myself, I remain deeply supportive of the disabled and assistance dog community, and it’s a passion that will always stay close to my heart. As Wild Waggers continues to grow, my goal is to build a business that reflects that same sense of support, understanding, and dedication.
Today, I’m proud to expand Wild Waggers by offering training programs alongside our handmade canine gear. These programs are designed to help new handlers build confidence and strong partnerships with their dogs, while also providing guidance and support for more experienced handlers and their assistance dogs.
Our approach focuses on support, understanding, and practical training, helping each handler and dog team develop a strong and lasting bond.
Wild Waggers started with one incredible dog, and that inspiration continues to shape everything we do today.
Our Trainer
Meet Bella
Bella’s journey into dog training began in childhood, teaching tricks to her Border Collie and taking her on daily walks after school. However, it wasn’t until her family brought home Benji, an incredibly dog-reactive Border Collie, that she truly stepped into the world of canine behaviour and training.
The turning point came during her very first training session with Benji, which unexpectedly began with a theoretical lesson. It was there Bella discovered that working with dogs went far beyond obedience—it involved understanding behaviour, psychology, and thoughtful training strategies.
What followed was a challenging yet transformative journey of trial and error, unlearning old habits, and seeking guidance from experienced trainers and mentors. Through helping Benji overcome his challenges, Bella discovered her true passion: not just training dogs, but understanding them. This experience allows her to deeply empathise with dog owners, particularly those navigating behavioural struggles with their own dogs.
Bella has a natural curiosity and a strong passion for problem-solving. She is always reflecting on what worked, what didn’t, and why. When she’s not working with clients and their dogs, she continues to invest in her education through formal studies, seminars, workshops, podcasts, and hands-on training across a wide variety of environments.
Throughout her learning journey, Bella has worked with professionals across different areas of the industry and gained experience with dogs in environments such as shelters, herding trials, dog sports, and behaviour assessments.
Her interests extend across all aspects of canine wellbeing, including veterinary medicine, fitness and conditioning, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, nutrition, and breed-specific activities. She has hands-on experience in sheep herding (both European and Australian styles), bite work, shelter behaviour evaluations, and dog-to-dog suitability introductions.
Bella’s training philosophy is built on empathy, scientific understanding, and a deep respect for the individuality of every dog—and every owner.
