Welcome To Your Assistance Dog Journey

At Wild Waggers Accessories & Training, we believe every assistance dog team deserves a program that is supportive, flexible, and designed for real-life success. Our Assistance Dog Program follows a clear and supportive pathway, guiding you and your dog step-by-step from foundation training through to public access readiness.

Each level builds on the last, ensuring your dog develops the skills, confidence, and reliability required of an Assistance Dog under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

Program Pricing

At Wild Waggers, we believe in transparent, structured pricing that reflects the quality, time, and care that goes into building a reliable assistance dog.

Each level of our program is a one-time investment, designed to support both you and your dog as you progress through training — without locking you into long-term contracts or overwhelming commitments.

To ensure consistent progress and maintain training standards, all clients are required to attend:

A minimum of 1 additional training session every fortnight

These sessions are tailored to your individual needs and may include:

  • Public access training
  • Behaviour support
  • Environmental exposure
  • Task-specific training

How the Program Works

Our program is structured into 4 progressive levels, each designed to build on the last. You will begin with an evaluation session, where our head trainer determines the most suitable starting level for you and your dog.

Level 1 - Foundations

Level 1 is where your journy begins.

This stage focuses on building a strong foundation of communication, engagement, and basic obedience, setting both you and your dog up for success in all future training.

Included in this level -

  • x3 one-on-one training sessions
  • Structured training plan
  • Ongoing guidance and support
  • First training product of your choice (bandana, leash wrap, vest)

Level 2 - Obedience & Public Skills

Level 2 builds on the foundations established in Level 1

Introducing your dog to more structured obedience and controlled public environments. At this stage, the focus shifts towards developing relability around distractions, while maintaining engagement and handler communication.

Included in this level -

  • x3 one-on-one training sessions
  • Structured progression plan
  • Ongoing guidance and support
  • Updated training product of your choice (bandana, leash wrap, vest)

Level 3 - Task Training & Public Access

Level 3 marks and significant step in your Assistance dog journey.

At this stage, your dog begins working in real-world public environments, while developing the skills required to perform reliable assistance tasks.

The focus is on strengthening behaviour under pressure, maintaining engagement, and building consistency in unfamiliar and distracting settings.

Included in this level -

  • x3 one-on-one training sessions
  • Structured task training plan
  • Ongoing guidance and support
  • Your first public ready vest

Level 4 - Public Access Readiness

Level 4 is the final stage of your Assistance Dog training journey.

At this level, the focus is on refining all behaviours, strengthening consistency, and ensuring both dog and handler are fully prepared for the demands of real-world public access.

Training becomes more detailed, with an emphasis on precision, reliability, and confidence in all environments.

Included in this level -

  • x3 one-on-one training sessions
  • Final Behaviour refinement
  • Ongoing guidance and support

Teams cannot enter non-pet friendly public spaces until reaching Level 3. All training aligns with QLD Assistance Dog expectations (hygiene, behaviour & control)

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that starting your Assistance Dog journey can come with a lot of questions. Below are some of the most common questions to help you understand our program.

How long does that program take to complete?

Every dog progresses at a different pace. The program is not time-based and instead focuses on your dog meeting the required standards at each level. Consistency and regular training play a key role in overall progress.

How often do I need to attend training sessions?

Clients are required to attend a minimum of one training session per fortnight to maintain progress and support consistent development. Additional sessions may be recommended where needed.

What is included in the one-off program fee?

Each level includes a structured training plan, professional assessment, progression tracking, and three one-on-one training sessions with your trainer.

Why are additional training sessions sometimes required?

Additional sessions allow for focused work in areas such as public access, behaviour, exposure, and task reliability. These sessions help ensure your dog is confident and consistent before progressing.

Is the (PAE) from Wild Waggers a nationally recognised certification

Our certification confirms that your dog has completed task training and passed a Public Access Evaluation, meeting the behavior and hygiene standards required for assistance dogs in public.

  • Trained to perform tasks that assist a person with a disability, and
  • Trained to meet appropriate standards of behaviour and hygiene in public

At Wild Waggers, our certification reflects that you as a team have:

  • Successfully completed structured training
  • Passed a Public Access Evaluation (PAE) conducted by a qualified trainer
  • Met the expected standards for public behaviour, control, and task work

You will also receive supporting documentation, including training records and handler information.

While our certification is not a government-issued license, it provides evidence that your dog meets assistance dog standards under the DDA, which is what businesses and services rely on when assessing access.

Can my dog be too young or too old to start?

Training is adapted to suit your dog’s age and development stage. Progression is based on readiness, not age alone. However there is an age consideration for entry, as dogs must have sufficient time and physical capability to safely complete training and maintain a working lifespan.

What happens if I’m unable to train consistently?

Inconsistent training may slow your dog’s progress and can result in reassessment before moving forward in the program. Regular engagement is important for reliable results.

Are Wild Waggers trainers a registered trainer with relevant insurances

Bella is a registered and insured trainer, and all training follows QLD animal welfare legislation and recognized assistance dog industry standards.

  • Certificate III in Animal Care Services
  • Currently completing Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing

  • Currently studying Certificate IV in Dog Behaviour and Training

Is my dog guaranteed to pass the Public Access Evaluation (PAE)?

Progression to Public Access Evaluation is based on your dog successfully meeting all behavioural and task requirements. Your trainer will guide you and determine when your dog is ready.

What is expected of me as the handler?

Handlers are expected to attend sessions, follow training guidance, and practice consistently at home to support their dog’s development and success.

Do you offer fully trained assistance dogs?

Wild Waggers primarily supports clients through training their own dog. For enquiries regarding fully trained placements, please contact us directly.

What if I’m unsure if this program is right for me?

We recommend booking an initial consult to discuss your goals, your dog, and whether the program is the right fit for you.
